Restaurateur Marco Coelho and Team Hospitality Expand Popular LoLa Brand

Highly anticipated opening of LoLa 41 Global Bistro & Sushi Bar Will Bring a Fresh Bold Scene to Historic Palm Beach

December 11, 2019

NANTUCKET– December 11, 2019 - Restaurateur Marco Coelho and Team Hospitality announced today that they’re expanding their popular ACK-based LoLa brand.  Slated for late December or early January, LoLa 41, a 156-seat global bistro and sushi bar will open on the corner of Sunset Avenue and Bradley Park.  LoLa 41 will be the signature restaurant for White Elephant Palm Beach, a luxury boutique hotel scheduled to open in early 2020. Sharing their origins on Nantucket, this landmark hotel and celebrated restaurant will bring a winning combination of old-school glamour and sizzling sex appeal to one of the toniest sections of South Florida.

“We are thrilled to bring LoLa 41 to Palm Beach,” said Coelho. “It makes perfect sense. So many of our friends and guests from Nantucket spend their winters here, and we’re eager to open our doors to visitors and residents alike who will be experiencing LoLa 41 for the first time.”

“LoLa 41 is a Nantucket mainstay, so it was a natural selection for White Elephant Palm Beach given the synergies between the two resort destinations. We’re looking forward to welcoming their culinary team,” said Khaled Hashem, Managing Director of Hospitality for New England Development.

Named for the latitudinal location of the flagship location on Nantucket, LoLa 41 Palm Beach will feature an eclectic menu inspired by the cuisine of countries along the 41st parallel.  Signature dishes range from sushi rolls and sashimi to Japanese kushiyaki as well as global dishes such as Tempura King Crab Leg with sweet chili sauce, Korean Beef Bulgogi with Chinese broccoli, egg noodles, & crispy garlic, and from the sushi bar Hot Pepper Hamachi - sashimi of hamachi with serrano, cilantro, sriracha, & ponzu sauce. The LoLa Burger, an 8 oz. hand-packed Certified Angus Beef patty, is an all-time favorite. It comes served on an oversized English muffin topped with aged cheddar and red onion compote and served with foie gras gravy that doubles as a dipping sauce for fries. LoLa 41 Palm Beach will also feature an impressive wine list, sake selection, creative cocktails and craft brews.

Alluring with its hip vibe and chic ambiance, LoLa 41 Palm Beach will boast an expansive bar area as well as outdoor dining by the pool within a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Interior design elements include a concrete bar embedded with vintage coins from around the world, hand-blown glass candles, artful lighting to guide the mood throughout the day, and striking works of original artwork selected by the LoLa team. Private rooms are available for special events.

LoLa 41 Palm Beach will be open for dinner 4-10pm - hours subject to change (breakfast and lunch will be served in coming weeks. Check website for details.) Located at 290 Sunset Ave, Palm Beach FL, 33480. For more information call 561-599-5652 or visit LoLa41.com.

 About Marco Coelho
Epitomizing the American dream, Coelho arrived in Nebraska from a small seaside village in Brazil as a 15-year-old exchange student and never left. He worked his way up in the restaurant world across the country, washing dishes and busing tables.  In 1998, while bartending in Palm Beach, FL, a friend told him about the exclusive island of Nantucket off the coast of Massachusetts. Coelho had never even heard of Cape Cod, but it sounded good to him, and he made his way to Nantucket where he eventually was asked to manage an island restaurant.  There he met the business partners with whom he opened LoLa 41, a global bistro and sushi bar, in 2006. Soon thereafter, Coelho bought out his majority partners and began his dream of turning LoLa 41 into a major restaurant company.  On December, 31st, 2008, his journey began, but certainly not without obstacles and challenges along the way.  Fast forward to present day and with his team in place LoLa has grown to a family of 5 restaurants.  One of the few restaurants open year-round, LoLa 41 transformed the Nantucket dining scene with its hip vibe and chic ambiance, welcoming visitors and residents alike for all occasions from casual to elegant.  Coelho prides himself in running his operation like a big extended family and attributes his success to the collective efforts of his team.  Each member contributes to decisions made on everything from the menu to the playlist. A magnetic presence at his restaurants, Marco can often be seen personally welcoming and chatting with guests who return time and again. With the debut of LoLa 41 in Palm Beach, FL, Coelho currently owns and operates the flagship LoLa 41 and LoLa Burger on Nantucket as well as LoLa 42 and LoLa Burger in Boston’s Seaport District.  Plans are in place for future locations, yet to be announced.

About LoLa 41 & LoLa Burger

Named for its latitudinal location, the flagship LoLa 41 opened on Nantucket in 2006, transforming the island’s dining and nightlife scene with its swanky interiors, rhythmic soundtrack and global bistro cuisine inspired by countries along the 41st parallel.  LoLa Burger, a spin-off concept, opened in 2008, quickly earning raves from island visitors and residents alike for its upmarket burgers and foie gras fries.  In 2017, at the behest of the building’s developer, LoLa 42 came to Twenty Two Liberty where well-to-do crowds gather for everything from Japanese kushiyaki (removed snacks) and sushi rolls to macaroni and cheese - all complemented by A-List wines, beers, and craft cocktails.  A second LoLa Burger opened in Boston’s Seaport District in November 2019.
