Classic Harbor Line Adds Luxury Motor Yacht to it's Fleet

Sightseeing on Boston Harbor is getting an upgrade this summer with the addition of the motor yacht, Northern Lights to Classic Harbor Line’s fleet of luxurious sailing vessels. Inspired by the famous New England commuter yachts of the 1920s – used by the ultra-rich for quick and fast transportation from Fall River to New York City – the 110-foot Northern Lights can hold up to 149 guests and sets sail from Rowes Wharf up to four times a day.

The first-floor climate controlled cabin exudes Gatsby-era splendor with exquisite mahogany accents and comfortable seating inside while the open bow and covered top deck offers un-obscured vistas of Boston Harbor and the city skyline. Designed for speed and elegance, Northern Lights is outfitted with 800 horsepower John Deere Diesels to allow for safe comfortable “cruising speeds” and also features a state-of-the-art sound system.

Originally built for exclusive private events on Lake Champlain in Vermont, Northern Lights received quite a facelift prior to arriving in Boston Harbor. The journey to her new home began in April when her top deck was completely removed to allow for smooth travel through the locks system from Vermont to Scarano Boat Building in Albany – where she was originally constructed. While in Albany, the motor yacht underwent 4 weeks of extensive cosmetic updates including additional wood working details, redoing the top deck railing, and adding fresh coat of paint to the entire ship. The last leg of her trip was the 30-hour jaunt from Albany to Boston Harbor where she joins the Schooner Adirondack III providing an authentic sailing experience coupled with impeccable service.
